The Photo Gallery, part VI

We've got a nice collection of new pictures for your viewing pleasure. A word to the wise, though: there are naked baby pictures ahead.

One can never have too many sleeping baby pictures, as far as I'm concerned.

Often times after changing Addie's diaper, we'll keep her naked from the waist down to allow her skin to dry out a bit. She's been sitting in a wet diaper, after all, and could use the fresh air. Well, a few days ago we left her lying there and came back to find that she had pulled the diaper bag over and had found a pair of black pants lying around. We can't leave her alone for too long at all anymore.

Here she is, again drying out, showing off how far she can roll over. She's not quite able to get all the way over to her stomach, but she's trying.

Once again out to dry, this time on a Boppy pillow. We put some toys in front of her to keep her entertained. In a few short moments, however...

...this was the scene. She started kicking and was over the top in no time.

Another Boppy pillow we have (both courtesy of Cat), this one has two 'bars' that criss-cross over the top (they're the zebra-striped things) that have hooks to hang toys from. So we strung together a bunch of these hooks so they would reach down to where she was, allowing her to chew on and play with them.

Sometimes, though, I think she's a little overzealous, not realizing that her mouth can't possibly accompany that great a quantity of plastic rings. She's quite the talker already; perhaps she's anticipating having a big mouth, as it were.

Lastly, a simple but ridiculously cute "Goodbye from Addie" picture.

The Easter Puppy Attacks

Pictures, as promised. Failing to find a suitable bunny rabbit, my mom resorted to buying a puppy for Addie for Easter. At least the puppy came with bunny ears. Some of the pictures are pretty similar, but I was so thrilled to actually get pictures of Addie while she wasn't wearing her "I am as indifferent as possible" face that I thought I'd put them all up. Besides, is there such a thing as too many pictures of a baby this cute? I should think not.

Oh, the joy of mirrors

Addie is continuing to grow. Big surprise there. At last weigh-in she was up to 16 lbs, 5 oz. (greater than 95th percentile) and 24 3/8 inches long (70th percentile). I found it humorous that, while browsing the baby aisle at Wal-Mart, there was a package of onesies that said 0-6 months on the package, with something like 10-16 pounds beneath it, and here is our child already outgrowing 6 month clothing at 3 1/2 months. Malnourished, she is not.

Easter weekend was spent in St. Louis for Ame's dad's wedding; he got remarried on Saturday. After the ceremony, we all went out to dinner at the Ritz, and Addie had quite the time. The food was of no interest to her, of course; breastmilk still may as well be filet mignon as far as she's concerned. However, as I am told (as I wasn't there to witness it myself), Addie had a heyday in the bathroom. Each sink in the bathroom was surrounded by two sconces and a mirror on three sides. Apparently, she had a heck of a time with this, laughing and carrying on.

In fact, she does the same thing at home (or where ever mirrors may be present). We're not sure yet if she's actually able to recognize herself or just that, "Hey, there's another baby over there!" Either way, a glance in the mirror is almost certain to elicit at least a smile, if not a good laugh or two. She has also, curiously enough, begun to associate laughing with coughing. We have no idea why, but often when she laughs it is accompanied by a cough or two. Apparently Addie considers both to be adequate expressions of her joy.

Ame and I are still continuously reminded of just how beautiful our baby is. While in St. Louis, we were in a thrift store waiting for Ame's sister to check out when a woman approached us and told us that we had a beautiful baby. Not only that, but she explained to use that she had been an OB nurse for 28 years, and that usually a baby's mother is greeted with a standard sort of "Yeah, yeah, congratulations." She emphasized her opinion of our baby by saying, "So when I tell you that you have a beautiful baby, you have a beautiful baby."

On the topic of beautiful baby, the next few posts will be dedicated to photos. I've got quite a few to put up, so I figured it'd be best to put them up separately. The pictures are the results of a few photoshoots that we had when my mom was in town a couple of weeks ago, but not a lot has changed since then, save for a few ounces gained and a few hairs lost. Anyway, stay tuned for the pictures.
